Management Accountant

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant to join a well-established business in Basildon, supporting the day-to-day activities of a busy finance function.

This is a key role, reporting directly to the Financial Controller, with responsibility for ensuring the timely and accurate production of management accounts and supporting business performance through meaningful financial insight.

This position offers a blend of routine financial operations and forward-looking commercial analysis, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is keen to contribute to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities include:

• Complete month-end procedures, including accruals, prepayments, tonnage analysis and maintenance of master contract files
• Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Deliver timely and accurate month-end reporting packs
• Participate in monthly budget variance meetings with senior managers, providing clear financial analysis to drive performance
• Support the Financial Controller with reporting packs, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
• Provide cost control tools and commercial data to support key operational projects
• Assist with data preparation for the annual audit process

 
The ideal candidate will be AAT qualified or ACCA part-qualified, with a solid foundation of experience gained in a finance or accountancy-based role. They will bring strong Excel and numeracy skills, in addition to Sage 200 knowledge.

Confident and articulate, they’ll be comfortable communicating across departments and at all levels of the business. This role would particularly suit someone with a proactive and collaborative mindset, someone who not only thrives on the detail of financial operations but also understands the broader commercial picture.
